are lucky to be granted the privilege of working remotely. But with it comes
the responsibility to make your value visible, even if you lack the
face-to-face time with other members of the team. Here is what you can do…
- Make the most of your occasional time in the office. Meet with as many colleagues as possible. Schedule yourself from one end of the day to the other. This is the time when you must build the personal relationships that keep you connected to the team.
- Ask what others expect of you. Do they count on your being available during regular office hours? Do they want your schedule available so they can plan meetings and phone conferences more easily? Do they need updates of your progress on a regular basis?
- Don’t stay hidden. Use technology to be visually present at meetings even if on a screen. This too will strengthen your ties with the others.
