How does your team handle feedback?
Don’t wait until the project post mortem to review everyone’s performance and look for accountability. The project is over...it’s too late to make a difference. It is during the project and throughout your team’s engagement that feedback can keep the team on track.
Does your team seem to waste too much time in meetings? In coming to decisions? In accomplishing agreed-upon goals? If you are team leader, it is up to you to guide the team toward more productive practices. And it has to start with learning how to give and to receive feedback.
- Environment: Create the environment for open, honest communication and begin the conversations.
- Feedback: Explain how constructive feedback encourages growth and learning.
- Accountability: Establish accountability as necessary for continuous improvement.
